Agriculture

Japan's farmers are, on average, close to seventy years old, and there are not enough people to take over from them. This programme prepares you for farm work in Japan — growing crops or caring for livestock — with the Japanese you need to follow instructions safely.

Honestly

The easiest Japan route to enter — and not an easy life.

Agriculture is one of the lower-paid fields in the Specified Skilled Worker system. The hours follow the seasons and the weather, and Japanese law exempts farm work from some of the working-hours rules that protect other jobs.

Some livestock placements, including pig farming, will not suit every candidate. We talk about this openly at assessment.

We tell every candidate all of this before they choose. If it still suits you, it can be a good route — and one with a long-term future.

After your training

What the Specified Skilled Worker route means.

Specified Skilled Worker (i) allows you to work in Japan for up to five years in total. Japanese law requires your employer to pay you at least what a Japanese worker doing the same job is paid.

Agriculture is open for Specified Skilled Worker (ii) — which allows your stay to be renewed and your family to join you — for workers who later pass the higher-level test.

BTI does not recruit, place or arrange visas, and does not guarantee a job, an employer or a visa.

Send one message. We will tell you honestly whether farm work in Japan suits you before you commit to anything.
